By Getting involved you could:
- Get to know Petworth by heart and learn its secrets
- Use your people skills to welcome and inspire visitors from all over the world
- Be part of a varied and enthusiastic team and make new friends
- Spend time in fabulous rooms jam-packed with history and one of the finest art collections in the care of the National Trust
What's involved?
- Providing a warm, friendly welcome to all visitors
- Learning about Petworth House and Park, so that you can share all that’s special.
- Helping visitors to discover more by telling stories and anecdotes relevant to the property, collection, history and spirit of place.
- Helping to protect interiors and collections from damage during open hours
- Following security procedures to prevent theft or damage
- Being responsible for the evacuation of visitors in an emergency and playing a critical role on rotation as Fire Zone Warden
What skills do I need?
This role will suit you if you are..
- Enthusiastic and friendly, enjoy meeting people, like operating as part of a team and are keen to learn. Petworth has a wide audience and there is something here for everyone, so the ability to recognise how and when to engage our visitors will be important
- Interested in Petworth - you don't need to know the history of the universe, but as a Room Guide you'll share lots of stories to engage our visitors
