Human Resources Trustee

Safe in Sussex

We are looking for a human resource expert who can support us with:

  • Ensuring highest standards of governance in policies and practice related to employee relations, recruitment, retention, reward and recognition as well as staff and trustee training and development.
  • Reviewing and recommending current and future strategic resourcing where appropriate.
  • Assessing risks and measuring the impact of HR interventions in the light of changing legal requirements and best practice.
  • Ensuring long-term strategic oversight of the organisation’s personnel and staffing requirements in relation to the overarching goals of the charity.
  • Ensuring that HR activities and interventions are linked to the organisation’s charitable objectives and complement the organisation culture.
  • Ensuring the trustee board monitors and reviews the performance of the organisation’s Chief Executive, rewards performance accordingly and identifies appropriate development opportunities.
  • Contributing to the consideration / development of an appropriate reward systems for all members of staff

Our Trustee Board has a new generation of trustees, all women, who bring specific areas of expertise to the role of governance. We have strong commitments and a strong ambition.

What skills do I need?

We seek a candidate who has the time and energy to commit to Safe in Sussex and the confidence and skills to act in a governance role and bring their human resource expertise.

We aim to operate a supportive environment where fellow Trustees and members of staff are encouraged to develop their skills to their fullest extent and this role will play an important part in achieving that aim.

An understanding of the charity and voluntary sector will be an advantage and knowledge of the governance of charities is essential. We are also looking for someone who has understanding of, and empathy with the aims and objectives of Safe in Sussex.
